Protesters shut down R23 Road

The R23 was closed due to protests that began on 14 March.

The R23 was closed yesterday, 14 March, due to a protest by residents who claimed that contractors do not hire locals for projects they undertake.

Mr Linda Tshabalala, municipal manager of the Lekwa Municipality, said the activity on the R23 was not approved and requested the police to manage and keep proper records for any criminal processes.

The Standerton Police were on the scene and the traffic department regulated traffic.
