Suspects escape from holding cells

Two of the wanted men who escaped from the Secunda Police Station’s holding cells. The surname of the first suspect is Mkhwanazi.

Five awaiting trial suspects escaped from the Secunda Police Station’s holding cells on 8 April, but two were apprehended again.

Messrs Buti Absalom Nxumalo (26) and Dumisani Simon Hlatshwayo (31) were arrested for shoplifting, but caught again after their escape.

According to the police, the suspects who jumped over the fence, were seen by community members at the station perimeter while running away.

The police said the circumstances surrounding their escape remains a subject of investigation.

They also said they have launched a manhunt for three men and their particulars are as follows:

• Mr Karabo Mkhwanazi (29) was arrested in connection with shoplifting.

• Mr Fanyana Vincent Jiyane (30) was arrested in connection with rape and common robbery.

• Mr Siyanda Dlamini (34) was arrested in connection with shoplifting.
