A Facebook post was shared vigorously on 28 August and panic began when Standerton residents thought the town’s electricity will be cut by 11 October.

The Standerton Advertiser investigated and contacted Eskom directly.

According to an e-mail received from the Eskom media desk, Lekwa Municipality is not on their Promotion of Administrative Justice Act 3 of 2000 (PAJA) list due to pending litigation.

Lekwa however, still owes an enormous amount of R384-mil.

The Lekwa Teemane Municipality, that is mentioned in the Facebook post, is a local municipality in Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District Municipality in the North-West Province.
