Standerton plays it part to help Western Cape

Ms Lindiwe Mabanga, Ms Nadia Pochee (project manager), Ms Smagele Gama, Amina Rawat and Ms Thea Barnard loading the water bottles onto the truck.

Standertonians donated 1358 litres of water to the drought-stricken Western Cape on 8 February.

The project is the brainchild of the Gift of the Givers.

“I was approached by them to help the Western Cape residents,” Ms Nadia Pochee, project leader, said.

“I immediately contacted Oasis Water Standerton who were more than eager to help.”

According to Mr Johan Brink, Oasis manager, the price of a 5lt bottle is R17, but in support of this project, they brought it down to R10.

Ms Pochee thanked the community who donated time and money.

The project is still ongoing for those who wish to make a positive contribution.

The cut-off date is 23 February.

    Contact Ms Pochee at 083 343 1412 or Mr Brink at 017 712 6139.
