Sadtu teachers picket over salary increment

South African Democratic Teachers Union (Sadtu) teachers picketed outside the Gert Sibande TVET College over a salary increment of 9% on 8 May.

The union members of Sadtu initially demanded an increment of 12%.

“We are currently in negotiations with the Department of Public Service and Administration,” Mr Walter Hlaise, Sadtu provincial secretary, said.

“We assure the public that we are still committed to educating and that classes will go ahead as planned.”
