UPDATE – Man on the run after shooting woman in Standerton

UPDATE: 12 September – 3.23pm

According to Capt Fanie Nhlabathi, communications officer of the Standerton Police Station, a case of attempted murder has been opened.

He also stated the suspect has not yet been apprehended.

New information indicates the woman, that was shot, is 30 years of age and in a critical but stable condition.

She was transferred to the Mediclinic Highveld in Trichardt, where she is being monitored.

A spokesman for Jeria Ambulance Services confirmed that she was shot in the abdomen and the bullet exited through her back.

A jacket suspected to belong to the suspect has also been recovered near the scene.


A man is on the run after he allegedly shot a woman near the Igloo Sports Bar in Standerton this morning at about 7.15am.

CCTV footage obtained from the sports bar, shows the man and woman standing on the corner across the street from the bar.

It appears as though they got into an argument, where after the man takes out a pistol and shoots her at close range, before fleeing the scene.

Police along with Kasselman Security Services are currently looking for the suspected shooter.

Police also recovered a bullet casing from the scene.

Members of the K9 unit have also been dispatched and dogs have been harnessed to try and pick up the person’s scent.

According to the Kasselman Security Services Whatsapp Group, the suspect was wearing white shoes, black trousers, an overall jacket with reflective strips on the arms and a white hat.

The condition of the woman could not yet be established.
