Classic victorious over Festive (Complete article)

Sphelelo Tshabalala (Festive FC: blue and white stripes) tries to mark Vusi Radebe (Classic FC: (green and yellow).

Classic FC put three goals past Festive FC’s one goal at the Stanton Grounds on 29 September.

Both teams are well known for always ending the match in heated arguments, promising the Standerton Advertiser this day would be different.

They kept true to their word.

Classic saw more of the the ball in the opening stanza of the match, with their player, coach and club owner, Tso Tsotetsi also on the field.

With Classic relentless attack, Festive was bound to make a mistake which they did in the 10th minute when they conceded a penalty.

Festive goalkeeper found himself getting the ball from the back of his net.

Festive also created chances of their own, but lacked the finishing touch.

The match went to break with Classic leading by a single goal.

The second half began pretty much where it left off, with Classic spending more time in the opposition’s half.

They saw more of the ball than Festive and made good use of ball possession.

Festive lost their momentum during the latter stages of the match, but scored an equaliser in the 65th minute.

That goal seemed to take the wind out of their sails and quite the opposite for Classic.

Classic began shooting from a distance in their effort to regain their lead.

When it failed, they attacked from the left wing and it paid off since they scored two goals in the space of five minutes, from the same position.

In other match results: Blue Cranes FC lost 1 – 2 to United Killers FC, Invisible Kings FC beat Peacelovers FC 4 – 2, Sakhile Express FC lost 1 – 2 to Taifa FC, Blue Cranes FC lost 1 – 2 to Taifa FC, Amasokolara FC beat African Eagles FC 2 -0, Holmdene FC lost 0 – 1 to Inner City FC and Flamingo FC lost 0 – 3 to Juventus FC.
